I've talked about why there is no such thing as THE ULTIMATE SWORD, the best design of all ever (example:    • What is the Best Sword?  (Not as Simp...  ). But this time I'm actually going to commit and pick what I consider the "best" single-handed sword for three specific historical situations:
1. Battlefield
2. Duel
3. Self-Defense

And yes, there is absolutely some personal bias and subjectivity in play. There is no way to answer such questions 100% objectively. :)
